No factory restore for the TV or Apple TV box sorts it, I suggest this might be a bug in the software that needs fixing unless there are any suggestions please?Many thanks for your input and support.
Whenever I turn on the 'Match Dynamic Range' feature - all content I try to play in Dolby Vision or HDR is downgraded to SDR without any success, I verify the error by checking the picture mode the television is in by looking in the settings menus at that time.Looking around this website people have attributed it to things like digital codes they have redeemed to get the content - but I have no such association. So I guess this means I have to go in and set every single full-bitrate blu-ray movie rip on Apple's PLEX app to "convert automatically"? Why the heck isn't there an overall setting for that like on every other Plex app? So I went to another movie and checked that movie's video quality setting. What the heck is that setting supposed to do? I had to go to the settings tab for the actual movie itself and set the video to "Convert Automatically". I turned it on and went to playback the movies that were having the issues. There is a general video setting in the app where you can turn on Auto Adjust (video) Quality. Here's where the weirdness of the Apple TV's PLEX app appears. I went to play a 1080p full bitrate blu ray rip on the PLEX app on the apple tv and the video was freezing/stuttering and breaking up.
I have the TV and Roku's PLEX app setup for "original" local video playback, but automatic video quality adjustment. I have a lot of full-bitrate blu rays rips on the server. EVERYTHING (devices and apps) is up to date. All devices (and my PC/PLEX server) are hard wired connected with ethernet to my router. I have a couple 4k Roku Ultras, an Apple TV 4th Gen 1080p, and an LG 4k oled TV.
